YEAR Winter 2015
LOCATION Toronto, Canada
Initiated as an invitation to designers everywhere, Winter Stations appealed to the creative industries in search of temporary public art installations which could revitalize a sterile and unwelcoming Toronto beachfront in winter. The competition elicited a response from nearly 200 artists, architects, and designers from 36 countries around the world.
The selected five shelters succeeded in drawing in crowds of thousands of onlookers on some of the coldest days of the year. The installations received widespread publicity and praise from all manner of publication and media. Winter Stations is poised to become the premier architectural event of the season.
