The Mezzo is a precedent-setting 16-storey building slated to break ground in the summer, of 2017. Poised as a showcase project exemplifying the City of Edmonton’s new urban vision for the sensitive densification of the Old Strathcona neighbourhood — an eclectic and historic district, home to a thriving arts and culture community, that is ideally situated within close proximity to historic Whyte Avenue, numerous public transit options, and near to the University of Alberta. This is an exciting project that represents a true collaboration between various resident groups, The City of
Edmonton, and a developer dedicated to enhancing the already vibrant character of a great neighbourhood.
The tower sits atop a 2 to 3 storey podium that has been designed to reinforce the rhythm, the materials, and the horizontal datum lines of adjacent historical building facades. Above the podium, the residential tower uses an historically sympathetic colour palette with clean modern materials to evoke the sophisticated and ecclectic urban vision that the neighbourhood has for its future.
