FRAM + Slokker have envisioned Calgary’s first planned urban community. Adjacent to the extensive riverfront park system, it embraces the city’s industrial past.
Co-designed with Giannone Petricone Associates and executed with the assistance of Marshall Tittemore Architects, the development spans four city blocks and consists of a residential condo tower poised on top of mixed-use podium. A system of diagonal mews cutting through the existing municipal grid of streets forms an intimate and fine-grained pedestrian-oriented environment. These mews, unique to Calgary, offer picturesque routes through the area, terminating in a spectacular new riverfront park with a new bridge spanning across the Bow River.
The lower podium elements frame the streetscape with a mix of retail and grade-related live-work units. A series of upper-level terraces and green roofs provide outdoor amenity space and tempers the immediate micro-climate. Deftly sculpted towers provide views up and down the river while maintaining full sunlight onto the riverfront walk.
