CX, is a mid-rise infill residential development located in the Oliver neighborhood of Edmonton. The vision for this project was to provide an interesting and thoughtful mixture of two storey and single storey living spaces as an alternative to traditional high-rise living. Located just south of Jasper Avenue on 110th Street, the area contains a mixture of multi-storey houses and mid-rise apartments, and is situated close to an LRT stop. storey townhomes have at-grade terraces, while the two-storey penthouse units have CX consists of 6 storeys of one and two storey units for a total of 68 units. The structure of the building is comprised of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) floors supported on steel stud loading bearing walls. The CLT floors not only provide construction schedule benefits and an opportunity to use renewable building materials, but also allows for an attractive exposed ceiling finish. The exterior materials consist of metal panels in alternating dark charcoal and light silver colours. “Frames” clad in longboard in a walnut finish articulate the façade, providing balcony separations in some instances, while also giving interest and scale.
